Do not start your preparation with Question based (one word type or objective type) books. There are many question based books in market claiming that, it covers all the questions from TNPSC Exams.
Is it possible to give all the questions to be asked in exam as a book – YES Possible!
Will it Work? Can I clear exam with it? – NO! Not Possible!
Why it doesn’t works?
We already know that, TNPSC has given an overall syllabus for you to prepare for the exam. Out of these syllabus it is possible for anybody to sum-up all the questions as a Question Bank. The questions asked in exams may appear to be resembling the same. But you will find it difficult to attend it in the exam hall.
Consider the following:

The above is a MAP of Industrial Clusters in Tamil Nadu given in Samacheer Book 10th standard. This comes under the syllabus “Development Administration in Tamil Nadu”.
The Question Bank book may have a question regarding this:
1. Sivakasi is known for?
A) Boilers
B) Fire-Works
C) Leather
D) Cement
The answer here is “B) Fire-Works”.
But if the actual question is TNPSC Exam is like this:
2. The Industrial Cluster of Sivakasi is known for?
A) Boilers
B) Printing
C) Leather
D) Cement
Here the answer is “B) Printing”.
You will be able to answer both 1 and 2, if you have read that in Samacheer books. But on seeing the 2nd question, it may be similar to the question given in your Question Bank, but you will not be able to answer it.
Another important reason why we suggest you to read through Samacheer is that, In MAINs, we will be writing the answers as descriptive. For that too, we need to read from Samacheer so as to write the MAINS exam. So, if you start your preparation with Question Bank based books, it will be very very difficult and will take more than 3 times the needed time to complete the syllabus.

தேர்வில் கேட்கப்பட வேண்டிய அனைத்து கேள்விகளையும் ஒரு புத்தகமாக கொடுக்க முடியுமா – ஆம் சாத்தியம்!
இது வேலைக்கு ஆகுமா? அதனுடன் தேர்வை வெற்றிகொள்ளமுடியுமா? – இல்லை! சாத்தியம் இல்லை!
இது ஏன் வேலைக்கு ஆகாது?
TNPSC தேர்வுக்கு தயாராவதற்கு ஒட்டுமொத்த பாடத்திட்டத்தை TNPSC யே வழங்கியுள்ளது என்பது நமக்கு முன்பே தெரியும். இந்த பாடத்திட்டங்களில், எந்தவொரு கேள்வியையும் ஒரு கேள்வி வங்கியாக எவரும் தொகுக்க முடியும். தேர்வுகளில் கேட்கப்படும் கேள்விகள் ஒத்ததாகவே தோன்றலாம். ஆனால் நீங்கள் தேர்வு மையத்தில் பதில் அளிப்பது மிக கடினம்.
பின்வருவனவற்றைக் கவனியுங்கள்:

மேலே உள்ளவை சமச்சீர் புத்தகம் 10 ஆம் வகுப்பில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள தொழில்துறை குழுமங்களின் வரைபடம் ஆகும். இது “தமிழ்நாட்டில் வளர்ச்சி நிர்வாகம்” என்ற பாடத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் வருகிறது.
கேள்வி வங்கி புத்தகத்தில் இது குறித்து ஒரு கேள்வி இருக்கலாம்:

சமச்சீர் புத்தகங்களில் நீங்கள் படித்திருந்தால், 1 மற்றும் 2 இரண்டிற்கும் நீங்கள் பதிலளிக்க முடியும். ஆனால் 2 வது கேள்வியைப் பார்க்கும்போது, இது உங்கள் கேள்வி வங்கியில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட கேள்விக்கு ஒத்ததாக இருக்கலாம், ஆனால் அதற்கு நீங்கள் பதிலளிக்க முடியாது.
